李明,澳大利亚新南威尔士大学机械与制造工程学院教授,澳大利亚国家健康与医学研究委员会(NHMRC)新兴领袖学者。她于澳大利亚伍伦贡大学获得博士学位,并先后在美国加州大学洛杉矶分校和休斯顿大学开展博士后研究工作。主要研究方向包括生物传感器、微机电系统、芯片实验室技术等。
报告摘要
Droplet microfluidics has emerged as a versatile and powerful tool for high-throughput single-cell and single-molecule analysis. By partitioning samples into millions of uniform microdroplets,this technology has driven significant advances in cell biology, medical diagnostics, and drugdevelopment. My research leverages this transformative approach to tackle pivotal challengeswithin the life and biomedical sciences. In pursuit of this mission, my group has pioneered agroundbreaking technique that seamlessly integrates emulsion microdroplets, specifically water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) double emulsion and hydrogel droplets, with commercially available flowcytometry instrumentation. This integration empowers automated, precise, quantitative, high-throughput, and multi-parameter characterization and quantification of individual cells andmolecules. Our efforts have demonstrated the power of this integrated technique across variousoiochemical assays, including but not limited to single-cell biomass and metabolite production,single-cell protein secretion, and single-molecule diagnostics.
